Orientation
For many of you, your upcoming study abroad trip to Morocco might be your first time in North Africa, or your first extended period overseas. With it comes a mix of anticipation, excitement, and of course, lots of questions. We understand your position; many of our full-time staff are Western-born professionals (and former students) who also came to Morocco with limited knowledge about the country and its customs, aside from general travel guide recommendations.
Preparing for a New Experience
Studying abroad is not only an academic journey but also a personal and cultural adventure. Adjusting to a new environment, language, and rhythm of life may feel challenging at first, but it is also one of the most rewarding aspects of your experience in Morocco.
Settling into Life in Rabat
In this spirit, we’ve dedicated extra attention and first-hand experience to helping you comfortably transition into student life here in Rabat. Our goal is to make your arrival smooth, welcoming, and enriching from the very beginning.
Orientation Program Overview
Prior to the start of classes, all incoming students will attend a live, comprehensive two-part orientation event at Al Andaluse. This program is designed to equip you with essential knowledge and prepare you for both academic and daily life in the city.
City Life and Practical Information
The first session covers key topics related to life in Rabat, including practical guidance on health, housing, transportation, and residency matters. It also introduces important aspects of local culture and customs to help you adapt more easily.
Cultural Awareness and Integration
Understanding local traditions, social norms, and daily habits will help you integrate more comfortably into Moroccan society. This session encourages openness, curiosity, and respect for cultural differences while offering practical examples you may encounter in everyday life.
Academic Program and Methodology
The second session provides a detailed overview of Al Andaluse’s academic program, including insight into our unique teaching methodology. You will learn what to expect in the classroom, how courses are structured, and how to succeed academically during your stay.
Building Connections
Both sessions offer valuable opportunities for lively discussions and networking with new friends and classmates from around the world. Building these connections early on will enhance your experience both inside and outside the classroom.
Ongoing Support
Beyond orientation, our team remains available to support you throughout your stay. Whether you need academic guidance, help navigating the city, or simply advice, we are here to ensure your experience in Rabat is both successful and memorable.
