STUDENT LIFE

Housing Overview

Learn more about Housing Overview at Al Andaluse Arabic Institute.

Housing

We offer a variety of accommodation options in Rabat to suit different preferences and needs. Al Andaluse’s policy is to arrange housing for all students, interns, and volunteers with local Moroccan families. However, students may also choose private accommodation if they prefer more independence during their stay.

Homestay Experience

We strongly encourage students to stay with a host family, as this provides a deeper understanding of Moroccan culture and daily life. Living with a family creates a unique opportunity to practice Arabic in real-life situations and experience traditions that cannot be learned in a classroom.

Cultural Immersion Benefits

For students interested in improving their colloquial Arabic, a homestay offers full immersion in the local language and environment. Building relationships with host families allows students to gain valuable cultural insights and, in many cases, form lasting friendships.

Carefully Selected Host Families

All host families have gone through a thorough selection, vetting, and interview process. We maintain high standards to ensure that each family provides a safe, welcoming, and educational environment. For this reason, we strongly discourage students from arranging independent homestays outside of our network.

What’s Included in Homestay

Students staying with host families typically receive two meals per day (breakfast and dinner), access to Wi-Fi, and shared bathroom facilities. Rooms are usually shared with another student, and most homes are located within walking distance of the school.

Living Expectations

Students are expected to respect their host family’s cultural values and daily routines. This includes following guidelines related to mealtimes, curfews, and appropriate dress. Mutual respect ensures a positive and enriching living experience for both students and families.

Additional Homestay Details

Single rooms may be available with half board (breakfast and dinner). Rooms are cleaned weekly by the host family. Bed linen is provided, but students are asked to bring their own towels.

Residence Hall Option

As an alternative, students may choose to stay in residence halls, with options for single or double occupancy. This option is ideal for those who prefer more privacy or wish to share accommodation with fellow students, interns, or volunteers.

Residence Facilities

Residence halls include regular cleaning services, internet access, and shared facilities such as a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator and stove, as well as bathroom amenities including a shower.
